mother moments

You know you are maxed out when your 15 year old son (who can't wait to get his permit in 9 months) gets in the car and says."You have 3 orange lights on..that can't be good." And your reply is."Well, one means I am just about out of gas, one says maint. Req., so I guess something needs to be fixed and one says, Check in the shape of an engine, so something is wrong with the engine..but we will make it to school-don't worry." You know you are totally jaded when your 17 year old says that driving is freedom, but total independence is being 18 and you reply, "Then you better stay away from females." You know you have become an expert at bribery when at 6:45 in the morning you have to pay your older son to allow his younger brother to borrow a sweatshirt.  (Don't let anyone try to tell me that sisters are the worst at sharing clothes with each other.) But.you know you are totally and completely loved and appreciated when your 14 year old ...

Accepted to college

Brendan was accepted to SCSU.  He is very excited, but the most important thing to him was that his "hot" guidance counselor gave him a hug when she found out he made it in SCSU.

Coaching with my big sister

In other words, the girls didn't seem as though they listened to what I said, but maybe some of it sunk in.  What a great group of girls.  They were nice and fun.  Some were dedicated to every practice we would have (ok, we didn't have that many practices).  Some didn't go to practice at all but showed up for the games.  It was a fun team.  By the end of the season the quietest, least aggressive girls on the team were shooting and scoring. It was a great time, even ...

Anesthesia

Connor tore his meniscus again (after repair surgery in October) and was in surger again today.  When he came to at first, the first thing he did was put his fist up and say to me, "Pound it (meaning his fist) I fought the anesthesia and I won."   I thought maybe they had taken out something else, besides his meniscus, but apparently he was just proud of the fact that he tried to stay awake when they first put him under.  Kids say the darnest things.
