contentment by the poolside

I took the last five work days off and it has been HOT!  At least 2 or 3 times a day Keera (our bronze goddess-never seen a child tan like her-at least not in my family) is in the pool.  She and Katie spend quite a bit of time playing and swimming with each other.  It has been fun to watch them.  I love the pool.  Whether I am working on strengthening my knee, being pulled into playing with Keera/Katie or just floating around watching Bob work on our patio he built, it is the most content and serene feeling....it is like you have everything you ever wanted right there in front of you....oh and the dog who acts like he hates going into the pool, but when you drag him in, he swims all the way to the steps.  What an incredible investment this was!!! More on the patio to come....he finished today and I won't blog until I have a picture...boy is Bob incredible.  His  talents are unending.  So...back to work tomorrow for a few days, but more da...

role playing therapy

A new grocery store opened up in town and I decided to visit it today,  not knowing it would be extremely busy on a hot and humid day.  People were grumpy and not very polite;  it happens in a grocery store on days like these.  When I got into line (which were all really crowded), I heard and argument begin to erupt in the next line over.  I looked up and it was an old man yelling at a guy about 30.  It began to escalate and with my background as an assistant principal, I knew it was only going to get worse.  I told my cashier that she should get a manager because there was a fight going on in the line next to us.  She kind of looked around and somewhat called another female over.  I told that woman (who was obviously a manager) that there was a fight which might end up drawing police attention because it continued to escalate. She kind of looked over at it and didn't seem to react much and then all of a sudden the old man was screaming, "YOu...

Hey Mom

I can't sleep due to a whopping headache, so I sit at the computer at 3 a.m.  I remember that this is the anniversay of mom's death.....29 years later...wow.....at times it seems like 5 years ago.  (It is also my dear Uncle Vince's birthday).  So hey mom-not that you can't see from above, but let me tell you about your grandchildren....(anyone else-feel free to skip to next blogging....which will hopefully happen before I turn 42....way too much time in between blogs.) Brendan - he looks so McAvoyish....what a handsome and good person he is.  He doesn't like to dissappoint me (can you imagine-a 16 year old who is mature enough to show he cares about his mom?)  The other day he whisked in and out of the house again and as he was on his way out I said,  "Gee Bren....you have this great social life, but I miss you around here."  After I said it, I felt guilty because I felt like I was putting out the old guilt trip, and then I figured it fell on deaf ...

Keera-Baseball and Flowers

Keera wanted to play t-ball this year.  Before I get to this particular incident you have to realize how important baseball is in this house.  Bob collects baseball cards(like over 100,000), when we are on vacation and near a baseball stadium, we attempt to see a game, the boys have played baseball for 12 years and 9 years.  Katie started in baseball and then moved to softball after about 4 years.  Baseball is what you might call a keystone element to the existence of the Reed family. Keera has had an interesting season.....she bats left handed, even though she is a righty (it took Bob four kids before he finally got one to bat lefty-it's considered an advantage to bat lefty)....the first game of the season, she couldn't finish because she was so upset that someone had stepped on her with a cleat (by accident )-there is no crying in baseball Keera....and she has many a time been seen getting the boys all worked up in the dug out, in a fit of fun, as they cha...
