Awwww

Brendan decided to take a road trip with his friends to visit a friend in Philadelphia.  When this first came up a few weeks ago Bob and I said "no".  Brendan did not take it well, but we just weren't ready for that.  Well, it came up again and I knew we couldn't keep putting this off.  He is 18 and becoming his own person.  We allowed him and two friends to go to Philadelphia.

As he was leaving, I still wasn't happy about it-worried is a better word.  I decided to "suck it up" and support him-you know, I said, "I love you, be careful, etc.etc.".  We kept in touch throughout the weekend.  I was texting on Sunday to find out exactly when he was coming home and I realized through our texts that this 18 year old kid drove on 95 into Phillie, drove around Phillie, and was driving home.  I realized I was impressed.  Most adults don't want to drive through NY on 95 (George W. bridge, etc).  I texted him I was impressed and he asked why.  I texted that that was a hard thing to do.

He came home so late that I didn't see him and then I was out early in the morning.  At about 1:50 I came out of a meeting at work and my secretary said my son had been there.  I texted Brendan to see what was wrong.  He texted back that he just wanted to see me.

Oh my gosh that was sweet!!!!  Give a little, get a little, I guess.
