So every Christmas season I say the same thing....I am not going to get stressed because I just want to enjoy my family and people. I am not going to worry about shopping for everything. I am not going to freak out about what to bake, cookies to make, decorations, etc. And every season I kind of fall into the same trap. This season I think I was under control until we had the devastating news of our nephew passing away. Then all heck broke loose and it became two weeks of running around to get everything in, get ready for a trip, etc. I am glad I am stopping now and I hope I can put the next four days into perspective.....time stopped last weekend and we celebrated people....I have to remember it isn't about who gets what for Christmas and balancing the gifts, money, paying the bills, etc. That is all going to happen no matter what every year. But, it is about the moments and connections with people every year. It is about the laughing...
I haven't blogged in a month and now they are overflowing. Patrick is my cousin and I had the pleasure of reconnecting with him this past weekend. Here is what I remember of Patrick. When he was first born and younger, we heard our mother talking all about him. It was her younger brother Vincent who had his first child-and a baby boy-which Mom nor her sister had, so it was a big deal. Then we got to meet him. At age 14, I would spend my summers at Patrick's house (as I was most appreciative of Aunt J. and Uncle V. for having me and treating me like...
Ok-I admit it, at first I thought it was a drag to go to the open house with Brendan at SCSU. Although I was really glad that he signed up because he has such a strong interest in going. Anyway......Brendan only wants to apply to about 3 colleges and since I am a SCSU graduate, we toured the campus together. Twice we ran into his best friends in a "tour group" with their parents. They said, "Brendan, come on ...join us." and his reply was, "That's okay...my mom's giving me a tour." I thought that was cute-save that moment. Two days after the open house the truth came out......."Mom, there are a lot of pretty girls at SCSU." Oh boy. I said, "Brendan, there are a lot of p...
