Where to Start
Do I start with the fact that Bob is a genius and a skilled builder all in one? He started adding a dormer to the garage and it is amazing to watch him build. You would think someone as smart as him would not know the first thing about something as skilled as building, but he is amazing at it. Of course everyone's nose is out of joint because Katie says, "I have been asking him for one shelf in my closet" and Connor says, "I have been asking for a closet" and Keera says, "I have been waiting my whole life for a door knob." Now, Katie, I have to agree with, but Connor will have a new room with a closet and Keera will have a new room with a door knob if Bob finishes Brendan's room and he moves out there. They are too funny.
Next - Brendan's hair...big topic of conversation. He went from looking like Luotenant Dan in Forrest Gump (the long hair, the bandana around his forehead, except Brendan has both legs). To looking like one of the little rascals with dreadlocks (that took 15 hours to put in and I won't write how much they cost), to looking like he is going into the service with his head shaved....all within a three day period. I guess it is ok, since he is young, has to experience things and has the money to burn at this point. He also just went to working full time at Masonic. He is a hard worker and on his way to feeling very independent. Road trip to visit his aunts in Myrtle Beach, with his friend. He is too funny and doing pretty well for himself. He still has no interest whatsoever in school. Maybe that will change, but we can't live their lives for them and if it works for him, how can I question it.
Connor on the other hand, also has a job, but his approach is very different. He works at Neil's Bakery, a very well known bakery in town. People line up outside the door on a Sunday morning to get baked goods. I woke up one morning when he was getting up at 3:30 a.m. (what teenager does that for money?) to get ready to go in. He had a printed out list of all the things he had to do to open the bakery starting at 4:15, 4:20, 4:25. He is Mr. Organization. He also opened a bank account this week with his four checks of like over 100.00.
Katie is off again tonight at a sleepover. They have a group of girls called the fish. (not sure why on that one). THey all sleep over each others houses once a week-different house each week. This week it was our house two nights ago. They had a bake off and boy do they bake - use every utensil, pan and bowl in the house, but are so cute when they are doing it. Of course Connor is the judge, making up score sheets and all. She also volunteers at Masonic for two days a week. One day is with the babies and one with the recreation for the elderly. Her stories are so funny. One day one of the babies spit up on her the whole time and one old woman did not want to go to balloon volleyball-gave her quite a hard time with that.
Keera - came home from camp the other day announcing that there were girl problems. She accidentally told her best friend that she didn't want to be best friends anymore. There are so many things about those two statements that I don't even know where to begin.
How is it I have been blessed so many ways in my life? Amazing.
