Brother against Brother
For the first time ever, Brendan and Connor played against each other in baseball today. Brendan is on the all star Senior team and Connor is on the all star Junior team and they played a scrimmage today....no good could come of this. What makes me laugh is that they are both good ball players, but in every other respect they have just about nothing in common. Right down to the way they dress for baseball. Brendan wears his baseball pants the traditional way (up to his knees with long blue socks) and Connor wears his baseball pants hooked to the bottom of his cleats like a lot of the major league ball players today.
Brendan is playing left field and Connor comes up to bat. Connor hits a fly ball to left field, but it is one of those short ones that tend to drop in. The third baseman can't get to it....the short stop could not get to it and Brendan had a slow start to getting to it. It looks like it will drop in and Connor will be safe when Brendan (who is not as determined as Connor-except during sibling rivalry) takes a dive forward and catches the ball right before it hits the ground....it could not have been any closer. Brendan robbed his brother of a good hit. The next time Brendan came up I told him he better return the favor and hit it to left field where Connor was playing.
I hope this goes okay at home. I suppose I should be glad it turned out this way. Brendan earned the bragging rights, but he won't use them (a bit humble). Had Connor earned the bragging rights, we might be hearing about it a bit longer (he does have to grab the spotlight when he can....basically being a middle child.)
